How to Celebrate - While Staying Home

With all the chaos going on in the world, it is more tempting than ever to put off celebrations until things go “back to normal.” But, we think that it’s crucial to make the most of each moment we’re living through, even though times are strange and scary. It’s more important than ever to share meaningful moments with those who are special to us. Show your loved ones you’re thinking of them with these fun ways to make celebrations extra special, even while staying home.

Have a virtual party

Arrange a video chat with friends and family. Make it exciting by having everyone wear their most elaborate “quarantine outfits,” or give your video chats a theme. You can go the extra mile by decorating your space, too! It’s easier than ever to connect with people, no matter the physical distance. There are countless apps that allow you to share your computer screen or watch a movie together - why not share a virtual movie night?

Create a Staycation

If you can’t get out of the house, bring the destination to you! Put your creativity to the test. Use what you have at home to transform your living room (or backyard!) into a getaway spot. Just think - you could create a luau with post-it note flowers and tropical treats, or a winter paradise with twinkle lights and hot chocolate. Even indulging the kids in a masterful pillow fort can transform your home into a temporary vacation destination.

Indulge in Nostalgia

If you’re in quarantine with someone, you’ve probably already learned a lot about them and their work from home habits! Take the focus away from how they ”work”, and remember some “play”. Go back through old photos and reminisce about your favorite shared memories (even print them out and start a photo album, if you like!). Watch an old movie from their childhood, and let them share their favorite childhood activities. If you’re daring, create “throwback” outfits from a different era. Maybe she still has her wedding dress tucked away? Maybe he still has a favorite tee-shirt from school? The possibilities are endless.

Dress for the Occasion

You may be at home, but you don’t have to dress like it! It can be good, psychologically and emotionally, to get dressed up and feel good about looking your best. It’s tempting to wear sweats every day when no one will see you… But indulging in pampering yourself can feel even better! Style your hair, wear your favorite outfit, and put on all your jewelry. Order takeout from a local restaurant or cook a favorite meal, and have a “date night!” You can still sparkle at home.

Surprise them with a Gift

Not everyone is able to right now, but if you’re fortunate enough to be able to give a gift, now is the time. Be it for a birthday, anniversary, a postponed graduation party, or just because, they will always remember the joy you brought them in an uncertain time. Sami Fine Jewelry will ship your gift (for free!) anywhere in the United States. Lots of couples are proposing during lockdown! If you’re already married, why not “propose” a second time and ask them to be your “Quarantine Valentine?” Times may be dark, but you can put a smile on someone’s face. It is important to remember that life doesn’t stop, just because stores are closed.
